2014 NFL Draft Prospect Wonderlic Scores

The Wonderlic test is administered yearly at the NFL scouting combine.  Each prospect takes the test each year but only some of the results are ever leaked to the public.  Wonderlic scores are considered private by the NFL, with team personnel threatened with serious consequences if they are responsible for information leaking out.  For that reason, consider NFL pre-draft Wonderlic score posted here to be unofficial, however the scores are often widely reported.  We have the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel and Albert Breer on Twitter to thank for the below scores.

Why Is The Internet So Slow? Updates.

Why is every other web site on the internet slow right now?  The answer is most likely the heartbleed vulnerability which was released on April 8th of 2014.  The vulnerability is a bug in OpenSSL, the most popular software that is used as a security component for countless other programs including popular web server applications.  It is not known how long this has been privately known or how many hackers or other exploiters have known about this bug, but it affects OpenSSL versions that were released from 2012 through versions released as recently as 2014.  This means this the impact of this bug is incredibly widespread, and the danger in not immediately correcting the issue is also significant.

Florida Gators and Wisconsin Badgers Advance to Final Four

The Florida Gators defeated the Dayton Flyers 62-52 in the South Bracket Elite 8 matchup in Memphis, Tennessee.  Florida was lead in scoring by senior guard Scottie Wilbekin who scored 23 points on 14 shot attempts and in rebounding by Dorian Finney-Smith who pulled in 9 boards including 6 off the offensive glass.  Florida's excellent defense held Dayton to 39.6% FG% but allowed the Flyers to sink 8 of 18 three point attempts. Florida advances to the 2014 Final Four in Dallas, Texas and is set to face the winner of today's Michigan State vs. UCONN matchup.

Eagles Release DeSean Jackson

The Philedelphia Eagles have released 3 time pro bowl wide receiver Desean Jackson.  The move comes as no surprise as the Eagles were rumored to be shopping Jackson around the league at his 10.5 million per year salary.  Interest in a trade for Jackson from other NFL teams was most likely extremely limited given the cap number, especially since those teams would assume that Jackson would be cut if a trade partner was not found.  Interest from other NFL franchises in terms of signing Jackson to a new contract is undoubtedly much higher than interest in a trade.

Fantasy Baseball Closer Update - March 25, 2014

There was fairly big news in the fantasy baseball closer market this week.  Texas Rangers reliever Joakim Soria was announced as the Closer with Alexi Ogando serving in the 8th inning setup role.  Many were betting on Neftali Feliz who could still take the role at some point if Soria were to falter.  White Sox pitcher Nate Jones seems to have earned the closer role in Chicago, and Carlos Martinez has lost the battle for the 5th rotation spot and has landed as the setup man in St. Louis.  Aroldis Chapman was hit in the head by a line drive, opening the way for J.J. Hoover to get first crack at the role while Chapman is out.  The Astros closer situation remains a wait-and-see mystery, with Fields and Qualls battling Albers while Jesse Crain rests his biceps injury.

Closers currently closest to losing their role (and who might make a good stash):

Rumor Surrounds Marquette Men's Basketball Coaching Hire

The rumors out of Milwaukee Wisconsin are swirling and regard all sorts of surprising and unexpected successors to ex-coach Buzz Williams who recently left for Virginia Tech.  The specific circumstances of Williams' departure are also unknown and are creating another strain of rumors of their own.  Complicating matters with hiring a new Men's Basketball coach, Marquette is also looking to hire a new Athletic Director who would be the boss of any new coaching hire, as well as a new University President who the new AD would report to.

Report: DeSean Jackson's Return To Eagles Uncertain

The Eagles have signed Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper to contract extensions and have cast doubt on whether or not Wide Receiver DeSean Jackson will remain with the team long term.  It has been widely reported that Jackson had asked for a new contract, and with Philadelphia already having an extremely high cap number dedicated to the WR position it seems doubtful that they would agree to such requests.

2014 NFL Free Agent Signings Fantasy Football Review

The NFL Free Agent Signing period is currently underway and many of the chips have already fallen.  The biggest signings in terms of fantasy football are Eric Decker taking a huge hit in value to go to the Jets and Ben Tate going to Cleveland who sorely needing help at the RB position.  Hakeem Nicks could see a resurgence playing with QB Andrew Luck, and Emmanuel Sanders could have a huge year playing with Peyton Manning and possibly fill Eric Decker's role.  Golden Tate will be lining up across from Calvin Johnson and Jeremy Maclin will get his chance to shine in Chip Kelly's offense.  Toby Gerhart will get a chance to take over primary back duties in Jacksonville and will finally get the opportunity to emerge from Adrian Peterson's shadow.
