Socks With Sandals - Embrace It!

Socks with sandals has been a fashion faux pas for decades, but the stigma may finally be lifting.  Logically speaking, not wearing socks with sandals has always been an idiotic notion because we all love socks, we all love sandals and the combination is simply quite comfortable.  Socks with sandals offer just the right amount of foot warmth while allowing for ideal breathability due to the sandal.  Wearing socks and sandals at the same time used to put one in a "fanny pack" classification of fashion, however even the most hardcore fashionista critic must agree that wearing a comfortable pair of socks with just about any non-thong sandal is about as comfortable as footwear gets - especially for anyone suffering from foot odor or food dampness.

Fantasy Football Trends 2014

Fantasy Football has become increasingly popular in recent years, leading to both huge commercial success and the continued expansion of the fantasy game.  New ideas are brought to the table and adopted by the fantasy community each year, and 2014 is a year in which many trends are actually revolutionizing the fantasy game.  Fantasy Football trends often encompass popular strategies, scoring rules and draft approaches but recently developments such as the popularity breakout of daily gaming have truly expanded the fantasy landscape.

The Top 5 Fantasy Football Trends for 2014:

Fantasy Football Draft Strategy - 7 Factors For Fantasy Success

There are countless factors to consider when crafting a fantasy football draft strategy, but certain important factors bubble up to the top.  Breaking down 7 of the most important considerations and then examining the underlying sub factors that contribute can help owners ensure that they are examining players from all of the appropriate angles.  Careful consideration when ranking players can make or break a draft strategy and prevent owners from overlooking critical items on draft day.  Any seasoned fantasy owner has experienced the feeling of regret after realizing that an important factor was overlooked, so make sure that you have considered these factors when making those draft picks.

The 7 major factors in fantasy success can be defined as follows:

2014 Early Fantasy Football Rankings for ReDraft

Organized Team Activities have begun for the 2014 season and NFL teams are underway scouting and planning for the 2014 season.  Fantasy owners should also begin scouting and thinking about rankings and tiers for players for the upcoming fantasy season.  It's never too early to start ranking your players for fantasy football because taking a longer view of the draft process lends itself to certain advantages.  Owners who have been tweaking their draft rankigns for a longer period of time are going to be more in tune with risers and fallers in the fantasy community and also aware of lesser-known players who may be standing out in OTAs and early camp.  Considering rankings earlier on also allows owners to fully digest all of the different factors that go into ranking players, such as talent, situation, opportunity, position scarcity, strength of schedule, personality/work ethic and more.

Jon Singleton and Oscar Taveras Called Up

First Baseman Jon Singleton has been called up to the Houston Astros and will take over first base duties immediately.  Singleton figures to bat in a run producing lineup spot - most likely 3rd behind George Springer - and is a must add in all fantasy baseball formats if he is still available.  Singleton could be a savior for those who lost Prince Fielder or others just trying to fill a hole at 1B, but it could also take some time as it does with most prospects.  Owners should give Singleton until after the all-star break to show something, but if things go well Singleton could be a very productive fantasy asset.

Outfielder Oscer Taveras was also recently called up to join the Cardinals on June 1st.  Taveras will see immediate playing time with Matt Adams hitting the disabled list.  Taveras is also a good add in most formats but may not be in as good of a situation in terms of potential playing time.

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Watch - Jon Singleton Call Up Coming Soon

The first week of June is two weeks away and the top prospects in baseball should be coming up from the minor leagues.  Fantasy owners can occassionally find a legitimate boost from speculating on top prospects, but pitchers have a higher success rate for fantasy contributions than offensive players.

2014 Dynasty Rookie Rankings For Fantasy Football

The 2014 draft is finished and we now know the destination of nearly all of the drafted players and undrafted free agents.  2014 is a very deep class at the WR position so there will be values to be had later on in drafts, especially in PPR leagues.  In Dynasty leagues, we are looking for players who are going to make a large impact for several years which means we want to draft top talent players and hope that circumstances allow them to live up to their talent.  You don't want to waste a rookie draft pick on a player you don't think has a high enough ceiling to eventually be a fantasy stud.  Trading rookie picks during the draft season and especially during the draft is the time to get the most value for them, so don't hesitate to trade a rookie pick if you think the player you are getting back in the deal has the most upside.  All rankings are PPR.
